Fragments of the Life of a Formidable Boy
“Fragments of the Life of a Formidable Boy” is the new column of A Psique de Guilherme, in which Guilherme Gomes proposes to rescue and critically comment on some pieces of audiovisual material that he created throughout his childhood and early adolescence.
Episodes
In this premiere episode, Guilherme Gomes revisits his childhood to discuss the first edition of "Jornal do Gui". Between "aggressive" interviews with his sisters and peculiar musical interpretations of Frozen, the author humorously analyzes his beginnings in the audiovisual world, the technical problems of a home production, and the family dynamics of that time.
In this episode, Guilherme Gomes revisits his archives from May 2016 to present "O Show do Gui". Amidst chronic technical problems and peculiar crisis management, the author ironically comments on his attempts to create an entertainment talk show. The episode highlights the participation of unlikely guests, "unreleased" musical moments, and a bizarre hypnosis session with a stuffed animal.
In this third episode of "Fragments of the Life of a Formidable Boy," Guilherme Gomes, with his usual ironic tone, comments on the short film "O Roubo do Quadro". Through a critical and humorous analysis, the author dissects the narrative choices and technical problems faced during production, revealing the creative difficulties of reconciling his artistic ambition with the limited resources available. The episode offers a fun and sincere behind-the-scenes look, where elements such as the Spiderman doll and the presence of an "Agent Gui" punctuate a narrative that, amidst flaws and improvisations, exposes the essence of his creative journey.
In this episode, Guilherme Gomes revisits his 2014 archives to present "Gosto Gui". Amidst props of questionable quality and delusions of childish self-importance, the author offers an ironic commentary on his early attempts to create a homemade TV show designed to compete directly with Júlia Pinheiro on Tuesday afternoons. The episode highlights a bungled "Lights, Camera, Action" sequence, "haute couture" gags involving dogs being tossed into the air and the disappointing appearance of a special guest drawn on a piece of cardboard.
In this episode, Guilherme Gomes revisits his 2015 archives to unearth "Terror Na Noite: O Filme", one of his early film productions. Amidst toy figures, makeshift sets, and attempts to conjure a horror atmosphere, the creator revisits his filmmaking ambitions and reflects - with the detachment and irony of someone looking back at their own work a decade later - on the results of his youthful creativity.
