'A Team Called Spain' is the intimate account of a national team that has been the protagonist of one of the most surprising feats in the history of Spanish sport. Episodes
Spain goes to Germany full of uncertainties, at least from the outside. For some players like Rodrigo or Carvajal, the season has been exhausting; important players like Unai, Dani Olmo, or Pedri, weakened by injuries; the youngest, Lamine Yamal or Nico Williams, generate doubts due to their inexperience, and other more veteran players like Morata or Laporte need to vindicate themselves again.
After the team's display, especially Nico's, the doubts are getting smaller and smaller. In the dressing room, a shout rattles the group: 'We are going to be European champions.' Morata is giving morale to an enraged team already in the last 16. Spain finished the group stage as the only team to have won all three of their matches, but now comes the surprise package of the tournament: Georgia.
The European Championship is a tournament of moments,' says Rodri, predicting what's to come. If there is one moment in the tournament, it is the one that Mikel Merino played that afternoon. Mikel finishes a perfect cross from Dani Olmo with a stunning leap, confirming the faith and enthusiasm of an entire nation. After Germany, France awaits Spain in the semi-final.
We have seen the process of Unai Simón with his injured wrist, the personality of a stranger called Cucurella, the spontaneity of Nico and Lamine, and the hierarchy of Captain Morata with his teammates. Everything converges shortly before the final. While the players live naturally the hours before the big match, the excitement takes over their families and the entire country.
