There are many mysteries left unsolved right in our backyard. From strange UFO sightings witnessed by thousands to missing civilizations with terrifying evidence left in their wake, North America is filled with many unresolved questions.
From legendary armaments like swords and daggers to weapons of Biblical proportions, incredible weapons have been utilized to change the tides of war for centuries.
Is predicting the future really something to inherit, or something that can be learned? Is it a trait that only a select few possess, or one that is accessible to every one of us by simply opening our minds?
From strange afflictions to infections that ravage populations, it’s frightening to think that one of us can contract these dangerous and often deadly diseases. But how did they originate? Can we do anything to stop them?
Some see monsters as constructions of pure fantasy, made to entertain us or simply teach us moral lessons about the world around us. But some encounters may be more real— and terrifying— than local legends might suggest.
Among the myriad emotions humans have experienced over centuries, perhaps the most easily identifiable is fear. This is because it is essential to our very survival.
All over the world archaeologists, scientists, and researchers are exploring ancient sites and collecting clues from civilizations that came before us. But are we on the cusp of unearthing the evidence of societies like Atlantis and the Island of Mu?
It’s a terrifying thought that there are those among us who have the urge to stalk, manipulate, and eventually kill to satisfy some dark craving.
A myriad of islands emerge from the ocean waves, while they differ in size, shape, and distance from the mainland, there are a few islands that harbor forbidden curses, dangerous creatures, and long-lost treasures. What can certain island locales reveal about the people who lived there or what they left behind? What happened at a once-opulent seaside villa where tragedy and misfortune followed residents? And can an island off the coast of Japan provide evidence of a once-lost civilization?
What does it mean when a certain location or mysterious object is referred to as "cursed"? Is it simply a creation of the human imagination mixed with myth, legends, and stories used to explain the common fears inside of us? Perhaps certain areas really are haunted or contain some dark energy emanating from a violent event in the past. Can possessing a dazzling diamond cause those who hold it to suffer misfortune, tragedy and death?
A well-funded, expertly organized criminal enterprise that pulls the strings of society from the shadows is as fascinating as it is dangerous. And whether it's pulling off a swashbuckling heist or a deadly murder...the inner workings of a life of crime are vague, threatening, and mysterious. For instance, does the Cosa Nostra crime family still operate from the underbelly of New York City today? And are double agents deeply entrenched within world governments?
Over the centuries, the night sky has filled us with wonder about our very existence and our place in the universe at large. A quick flash and flaming tail of a falling meteor. But what are these conglomerations of cosmic matter, and where do they come from? Can these interstellar travelers contain the power to actually heal us? Or could they harbor some ancient pathogen or alien life that could close the door on human civilization as we know it?
Over the centuries, there are certain objects of power that rise above all the rest. Whether it's the mystery of their creation, or the effects they have on those in contact with them, their impact on the world is striking. For example, can the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls not only change what we know about world history and Biblical canon, but lead to the legendary lost treasure of King Solomon? And how did the ancient Greeks construct a device from 2,000 years ago?
Twisting rivers, large lakes and massive oceans cover most of the planet; for centuries, people have wondered about activity deep beneath the surface; as technology advances, humanity pushes farther into deep ocean waters, mapping and uncovering new species and biomes; this interest in global waters raises new inquiries regarding cursed man-made lakes and isolated future discoveries beneath Antarctic ice.
We've all wondered about mysterious societies that operate in the shadows, holding the potential to shape our daily lives. But is the massive reach of these shadowy groups a fabrication—an easy target for people to assign blame—or something much more real? Are the interests of the many truly controlled by the select few? It is an unnerving thought that unaccountable, unseen forces are actively steering our lives, potentially for the worse.
There are countless stories about hidden jewels, confiscated coins and priceless artifacts that remain tantalizingly elusive and hidden from view. But there is evidence that some of these accounts are not tall tales at all, but rather open-ended quests just waiting to be solved. Will lost gold buried in the tumultuous days of the American Civil War ever be found? And could the opulent city of Xanadu described in the travels of Marco Polo exist in the jungles of Asia?
