The Betoota Advocate Presents
Australia’s oldest and most trusted newspaper takes on the controversies that shaped our nation. Fronted by Editor At Large Errol Packet and Editor Clancy Overall, leave no stone left unturned to get to the crux of the headline across four episodes tackling corruption, money, religion and tribalism. Australia has a history and sometimes it’s not pretty and The Betoota Advocate Presents doesn’t sugarcoat it. And it’s why Aussies love them.
Episodes
The Betoota Advocate explores the rise and fall of Hillsong founder, Brian Houston. Clancy and Errol attempt to show how an unremarkable pastor could become the leader of one of the world's biggest mega-churches.
The Betoota Advocate tells us what really went down as billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Kerry Packer went to war over rugby league in the 1990s. It was the battle for a game that almost destroyed the game itself.
The Betoota Advocate Presents will take you back to a day in 2005 when Cronulla made headlines around the world (and even put Australia on 'do not travel' lists).
What do cops, conmen and a can of spray paint have in common? A disastrous racing scandal at Eagle Farm Racecourse in August 1984, that’s what. Stepping back nearly forty years, the Betoota Advocate look back at the farcical yet absurdly true story of Fine Cotton, a racehorse that won and then lost in their new series The Betoota Advocate Presents. Delving into the horse swap that stopped Australia in its tracks, Editor At Large Errol Parker and Editor Clancy Overell discover how it all went so badly wrong. Chatting to those who were there at the time, The Betoota Advocate confirm what really went down on that fateful day the only way they know how. With cold hard facts.
