Spaceship Earth
In Spaceship Earth, astronaut André Kuipers and narrator Kim van Kooten go on a journey of discovery in the Netherlands. With fascinating space satellite and nature images, they explore the beauty and fragility of Dutch nature and how inhabitants of the Netherlands are connected to it.
Episodes
The Netherlands is one of the most illuminated places on earth. We see how artificial light affects the mating dance of glowworms and toad migration in the Veluwe.
How the Department of Public Works directs the Dutch water system and the beaver does the same with its fortress. How beer-brewing high-tech monks purify their wastewater with the latest techniques.
We examine one of the oldest trees in the Netherlands. And see how we pollute the soil after we die, and how a clever Delft native solves this. And what might agriculture on other planets look like?
We explore how we get cleaner air. How storks returned to the Netherlands, and how an inventor uses birds' wonderful flying technique.
We zoom in on "man," perhaps the strangest species on Spaceship Earth, leaving his mark everywhere.
We see how people are part of the immense nature. How we contain that nature and also give it space again.
