In the opener of this teaching series, Jim Osman examines teachers who promote this doctrine hearing the voice of God (HVG) and briefly explains the importance of this topic.
Pastor Jim Osman gives three common assumptions that HVG teachers have and examines the passages they use to support their position.
Christians often use 1 Kings 19 as a model of hearing the voice of God. Likewise, random verses speak to certain Christians as if they're from God Himself. However, Pastor Osman seeks to shows the context of "the still small voice" and provide a biblical response to random verses "jumping out" to Christians.
The Bible often uses signs and wonders to reveal God's will to mankind, but is it necessary for the Church today? Osman analyzes these biblical situations and offers discernment regarding this method of decision-making.
Christian jargon has adopted phrases like "inner peace" and "feeling led". This modern evangelical vernacular raises the question of what Scripture really says about these practices.
Many Christians claim to have stories of God speaking to them through dreams. Pastor Osman shows what the Bible promises regarding private revelations through dreams. Additionally, Osman analyzes common stories of Muslims coming to Christ through "seeing a man in white".
Many Christians who embrace or were raised with HVG teachings are often crippled with fear at the thought of making decisions without hearing from God. Osman shows viewers that the Bible provides revelation and wisdom for this process.
To conclude this teaching series, Pastor Osman evaluates common objections and questions by HVG proponents and aligns them with Scripture.
